Maarten Alexander (1990, Rotterdam) initiates processes in which the designer gradually becomes obsolete. Since concluding a decade of collaboration within Middernacht & Alexander, his solo practice operates at the intersection of rigid systematics and material autonomy.

His work does not emerge from an aesthetic signature, but from a pragmatic discipline. Alexander dictates the parameters - the laws and physical conditions of an experiment - and subsequently withdraws. In his current body of work, this results in a dialogue driven by fluid laws, wherein form compellingly reveals itself. This translates into collections without beginning or end; sequences of objects that, in theory, can continue indefinitely.

The first manifestation of this methodology opens with the introduction of his solo collection, Arena.
